Follow Friday: Judging a Book By its Cover

Q. Do you judge a book by it's cover?

Now that you mention it...

A cluttered or yucky cover might even taint how well I perceive the book to be written. Only slightly, though.

I prefer simple, bold designs like Delirium Delirium (Delirium, #1)

or ChokerChoker. I remember a book better if I can visualize it.

  6. I love those book cover designs. I try not to totally judge a book by its cover, but I hate it when books I really love have truly unfortunate covers. :P

Speaking of Choker, every time I browse through the YA section at Borders with the sister, we notice that book and we always remark on how PRETTY it is. The sis always says, "Hey, it's that pretty book again."

  8. I remember a book better too if I can visualize it. I'm not a fan of a busy cluttered cover either!

  9. I think we can all agree that even the most beautiful book cover can't sell a book if the writing's not there. Book cover art may, at best, help steer me in the book's direction (especially if I'm in a book store) but it's not going to hypnotize me into buying it right then and there.

I expound on all the marketing qualities of a good book. Just follow me back to my book blog - http://www.howardsherman.net
