NaNoRevMo Wrap Up

We survived!!!!!! This month I edited 70,000+ words and entirely rewrote 16,677 of those. (A very NaNoWriMo number for those of you die-hards...) Added: And I'm not done yet! I'll be RevMoing til we die.

This last week my butt didn't leave my chair as I got my students through their deadlines as well. I was either editing my own work or someone else's. There's a stack of microwave dinner boxes and a very patient roommate who hasn't complained about my increasing piles of crap in the living room.

I ended with a high-octane zumba class so I could work off the extra ass I grew in the last 30 days. (If an extra ass is what's needed to be published, I'll grow 8 of them.)

NaNoRevMo 2012

Thank you everyone who sent me emotional support and hugs after the rough weekend. I'm moving on and diving into writing - my anchor.

Like last year, I'm doing NaNoRevMo - a month of revision.

I'd still love for you to friend me on NaNoWriMo, though I may only log words for the chapters/scenes I rewrite entirely.

No more procrastinating now.

Julie is relying on the magical power of chocolate-covered gummy bears to help her get through Camp NaNoWriMo.

Linda a.k.a. wistfullylinda

Novel: PURE AWESOMENESS (aka a fancier version of UNTITLED)
Genre: Fantasy

Linda has a love-hate relationship with NaNoWriMo; she is rather fond of the ease and instant gratification of signing up, but very much less so of the fog of failure that blooms above her head for a month due to her word count deficiencies. But, with the support of her cabinmates and the lessons she learned last time, she's pretty sure she'll manage to write at least a couple thousand more words than she did last year.

Alz a.k.a. shizalent


Novel: MINER (working title) / THE LAST MANATEE (side project for Camp Nano, for if I need a break)
Genre: High Fantasy / Post-Apocalyptic Dystopian Fantasy with a Side of Manatees (link to Last Manatee post)

Alz has been faithfully Nanowrimoing since 2004 and faithfully Camp Nanoing since 2011. Her attention span has been getting shorter these days (hence the possible side project) but with manatees around, maybe her mind (what little there is) will stay more focused.

Genre: YA Science Fiction

Emy is a one-time NaNo winner and many-times NaNo loser who will hopefully up her score this time around!

Krispy a.k.a. Kangaru

Novel: (it's stand-in not-really name is...) LUCK
Genre: Fantasy

Krispy is an enthusiastic NaNo-er who never seems to learn she should really plan some stuff before she attempts to write 50,000 words in a month. Oh well. Good thing she's a pantser, and mostly she's at camp for the smores.

Sophia Chang a.k.a. YellowTypingFiend
Unofficial Cabin Counselor

Novel: UNTITLED EPIC FANTASY
Genre: YA Fantasy

NaNoWriMo is singularly responsible for Sophia finishing her first novel - and every one after.  Sophia has been a NaNo rebel for years now, using the month to revise or redraft.

Camp Counselor Soph makes sure the cabin mates are hydated, the names are unPC, and the kids get candy - even Gingers.

11.11.11 and the 11 Hour Challenge

I'm a woo-woo SoCal hippie so of course I believe in the power of repeating numbers.  1 has always been my favorite number and 11:11:11 on 11/11/11 only happens once every 100 years.

Today the energy in the world will help us leap that much closer to our dreams.  Of debuting on the NYT bestseller list at - of course - #1.

For WriMo's, we are celebrating by taking the 11-Hour Challenge.  Log 11 hours or 11,111 words.  May we emerge from this mystical day with Gollum computer hands.

NaNoRevMo and WriMo

This is the first Saturday I haven't had to work or rehearse in over a year!

This month I'm doing two NaNo's:

1) An email group Peggy Eddleman started for NaNoRevMo, which is exactly what it sounds like - 30 days of intensive revision.

2) Rebelling as usual for NaNoWriMo.  Since I'm completely rewriting most of my WIP, I'm technically creating new words.

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon and 48 Hour Dark Experiment

In an effort to curb my internet usage during Camp NaNoWriMo, I'm participating in

1.  this read-a-thon, hosted by Lori at Pure Imagination, Candace at Candace's Book Blog, and Reading Angel
2. a second run of the 48 Hour Dark Experiment, my successful internet ban.  This one will overlap on Monday and Tuesday.

I'm hoping to finish at least 2 of the books on my currently reading list (look to the left).

I'll come back next Wednesday with an update of how insane I this went.

Anyone want to play along?  (If you miss this one, I'll be hosting a more official 48 Hour Dark Experiment in the future.)

Camp NaNaNoWriMo

It's finally here!  Camp NaNoWriMo is the summer version of our yearly rough draft-fest.

July is the beta month (intrepid inaugural campers like me will be reporting bugs - not the Edward Cullen but the interwebz-ruining kind).

August will be fully functional.

You can follow my progress at: YellowTypingFiend, but I'll probably take 2 months to hit 50K.  Stupid computer strain.

Or send a care package (the Camp NaNoWriMo gear benefits the Office of Letters and Light, which runs NaNoWriMo and ScriptFrenzy.)

Anyone going to camp with me?  If there's anyone in SoCal who wants a writing buddy, I'm happy to organize a coffeeshop/Panera Bread gathering.
