Top 10 Tuesday: Favorite Book Settings

Favorite Book Settings

1. Sitia
from Maria V. Snyder's Study and Glass series (I like it better than its northern counterpart, Ixia)

2. Hogwarts

3. Forks, WA
Because vampires everywhere else will eat you.

4. La Push, WA
Because you might run into these guys:

5. The A-list's Los Angeles
No matter how much authors fictionalize Hollywood, the real thing is always more frightening

6. Bon Temps, LA
Home of Sookie Stackhouse

7. the insane billionaire's bunker in Maine
from Kelley Armstrong's Bitten (Otherworld #2).  Even though it's a creepy paranormal experiment lab, this setting is so well-realized it sticks in my mind.

8. Cambridge, MA
from Ellen Wittlinger's Love & Lies: Marisol's Story - brings back Harvard nostalgia

9. The Big Woods
from the Little House series - I still like the first novel best, before the locusts, crop failures, diseases, and long winter

10. NYC
from Melissa de la Cruz's Blue Bloods - vampires AND money.  It can't get any better.

  3. I'm with you on Hogwarts but not on La Push. I'll have to look up the Cambridge novel!

  5. I totally agree with your first two!

(I wrote that exact same comment above but had to delete it because I wrote too instead of too, geeze)

  6. I love the Brooklyn depicted in (what else) A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. It's a heartbreaking place, too, but I'd enjoy spending a day experiencing that past "world."

I also love the boarding school in Ally Carter's spy girl series. How fun would it have been to take classes there??

  7. I think I would pick La Push over Forks. Forks sounds just like most small towns, but I bet La Push is beautiful.

  8. I've always wanted to visit the world of Anne McCaffrey's Coelura. It's a little known short novel she wrote, with these amazing little creatures called Coelura who create clothes based on your mood. Sounds like fun to me!

  9. Hogwarts is my top pick! :)

Even if I loved Twilight, I wouldn't pick Forks or La Push because the Pacific Northwest is way too rainy for me. Plus Forks seems so dreadfully small.
